"I quickly grew to despise this microwave. The manual didn't explain that I need to press 'power' first, then choose the power level, and finally set the time. Unlike other microwaves, this one doesn't follow the standard 'cook time' followed by the desired time. Why does this $125 microwave deviate from the established order of operations?"

It's my professor Dr. Xu telling our class, the time he was signing up for a membership online. He inputs all of his information in the required fields and receives an error message. What is the error you ask? Not enough characters in the last name field. A lack of thought for multiple ethnic groups or possible bias created a pain point that eliminated a possible user.

It's the apps that make it so convoluted and laborious to cancel a membership. Am I really having to use the "Help" function or a Google Search to cancel this? Yes, Yes I am, way too often to admit. Then when you finally navigate to the cancel screen you get hit with "are you sure?", "if you stay we can take 30% off", so now at the possibility of cancelling I can get a membership price cut instead of just charging me that monthly fee in the beginning? Cool.

It's when my health provider Duke, updated their app "MyChart". Everything was laid out in a easy to use manner, navigation seamless, icons graphically made sense, clean, color palette didn't interfere, just overall an enjoyable experience.

I find inspiration from good and bad technology, but for the most part it's the bad that really sticks with me. I will ask myself "why?", why would you choose this path for your user? Was this actually tested before launch? Why is this not intuitive?...…Ask the "Why"
